AARP Tax Preparation

Free tax preparation assistance and e-filing.

Although the focus of AARP Tax-Aide is to help taxpayers of low and moderate income with special focus on those 60 and older, the program will assist taxpayers of all ages.

REQUIREMENTS:
1.  You must be a Maryland resident to have your taxes prepared at one of our locations.  Non-Maryland residents may use the AARP Tax Aide locator to find other locations and times.

2.  Everyone must bring (NO EXCEPTIONS DUE TO CHANGE IN IRS REPORTING REQUIREMENTS)
     -Photo ID
     -Social Security Cards and birth dates for everyone on the tax return (You can apply for a replacement card at ssa.gov/forms)
     -Wages, Earnings, & Income reports (W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-MISC)
     -Copies of last year's federal and state tax returns
     -Proof of health care coverage (Forms 1095-A, B, or C) or exemption certificate
   Some people will need to bring:
     -Total paid for daycare & daycare provider's social security number or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
     -Interest & Dividend Statements
     -Brokerage Statements
     -A blank check for direct deposit if receiving a refund

3.  Your return will be filed electronically.  You must consent to (3) statements on a disclosure, provided to you at the time of your appointment.  Both spouses must be present to sign returns for married couples filing jointly.
